Senior Tribute

I hope you’ve had the time of your life

Greg is that Damascus swimmer who looked like he was 12 when he was 6. He was big and fast…and then got bigger and faster. All while having the time of his life! Greg was the fastest 8 and under in the Montgomery County Swim League…….for 10 years…while we all watched and cheered. Every summer, with our Damascus Swim Families, watching all the swimmers grow from great kids to great adults was THE summer experience! Winters were….where else…RMSC and Curl Burke Pools!

Greg’s passion in and out of the pool took him on a journey his family enjoyed all around the USA with baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and academics. Greg led us to a common denominator…………great families, and great friends! After choosing to leave Damascus to go to High School in Poolesville, that same passion was enjoyed with the families there. College was quickly approaching and it was clear that Greg wanted to study somewhere where he could channel his desire for making the world a bit better. Greg was named Maryland Distinguished Scholar, National Merit Scholar, National AP Scholar, Harvard University Award, USA Swimming Scholar Athlete, National Lions Scholarship, National Byrd Scholarship, and Virginia Tech Scholar Scholarship.

He chose to study Electrical Engineering with a double major in Math and a minor in Green Engineering, at a wonderful place called the “Virginia Tech Country Club”, dubbed for that same great spirit of enthusiasm of the students. Before returning for his sophomore year in college, Greg’s been hired by General Electric (you know, the GE folks) and starts in August; an offer he couldn’t refuse (says the Virginia Tech Dean).

But Greg, who’s always been more comfortable in water than in air, needed to stay in the water, so when not solving math equations his parents can’t even read, he’s rowing with Virginia Tech’s Crew Team, and having the time of his life!

Greg’s goal is to develop alternative energy sources, not just talk about them! For those who know Greg well, he will not stop until he meets his goal. The world will be better as a result.

Greg, we’ve all had a great ride………….please continue to include us in your journey,   HAVING THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!
